Matan Hakimi is an independent researcher, writer and author of the book “Gut Rules”.

In recent years, Matan has been exploring and exploring the connection between our choices, thoughts and habits and our physical and emotional health.<\/p>

In a culture that encourages the removal of responsibility, the aspiration is that each person will become sovereign over their own life and health<\/p>

Therefore, I am leading a new discourse in Israel regarding taking responsibility for our health and our attitude towards ourselves<\/p>

a field that was reserved for years only for experts.<\/p>

These days, Matan lectures, leads retreats and development journeys from Second Life, and creates the Gut Sense Academy that provides knowledge for healing and physical and mental change. Matan\u2019s first book, \u201cGut Rules,\u201d<\/strong> was published while he was living in New York City during his healing process from colitis.<\/p>

At the age of 20, during my military service, I was diagnosed with an inflammatory bowel disease called ulcerative colitis.<\/p>

The doctors said it was chronic, that it could not be cured, and that I would have to take medication for the rest of my life.<\/p>

For eight years, I lived with the disease, taking medication 3 times a day, and over time, more and more pills for the side effects of the medications.<\/p>

I hated reality.<\/p>

I hated being sick, not feeling well, not being in control of my body, and not understanding why it was like this.
All these years I waited and hoped that medicine and science would finally find a solution to my condition.
After eight years with the disease, I was exposed to knowledge that I had never known before \u2013 knowledge about self-healing.<\/p>

I realized that maybe I could heal myself.
From that insight, I continued to research, read, listen, meet and, most importantly, experience on my own body everything I learned.
Within a few months, I cured myself of the disease.<\/p>

The doctor after the last examination was speechless.<\/p>

After that, questions arose in my mind:<\/p>

Why did I get sick in the first place?<\/p>

What exactly did I do to make my body heal itself?<\/p>

How do I make sure that this doesn’t happen again in my life?<\/p>

Why do people get sick all the time, more and more?<\/p>

Why is there no discussion about self-healing?<\/p>

We live in a world that encourages illness \u2013 the discourse about illness, drugs and hospitals precedes the discourse about healing, preventive medicine, the meaning of nutrition and a healthy lifestyle.<\/p>

The questions that arose in me after I recovered changed my life. They led me to deeply explore the connection between body, mind and lifestyle. I understood that our health depends on our ability to take responsibility and take care of ourselves.<\/p>
